I have a problem in : 
                 xyplot(df[,v] ~ df$year ,
                        [....]
                       )
 the error is "Error in df[, v] : object is not subsettable" 
but this used to run well with versions of R before R 2.1.1
it seems to be a problem with the new way of handling xyplots
