  Add one more:

  > x9 <- runif(1000)

  works with 8:

  > fit <- lm(y~(x1*x2*x3*x4*x5*x6*x7*x8)^2)

  but go 'one over the eight' and:

  > fit <- lm(y~(x1*x2*x3*x4*x5*x6*x7*x8*x9)^2)
  Segmentation fault
