[Rd] R installation problems on Windows XP (PR#4842)

That error message came from R 1.7.1, not R 1.8.0 (there is no 1.8).
There is a reply to PR#3364 on R-bugs, and you seem not to have followed
the advice there. Several such problems have been solved by reinstalling
the OS and thereby removing rogue software.
