[Rd] make check still fails with 1.7.0beta (3/27/2003)

...and the betas are being made shortly after 07:00 (both in Wisconsin
time I assume), i.e. about 3 hours ago. 

Also, did you rebuild from scratch? The examples might not be getting
correctly rebuilt otherwise.
