You sent this twice, for some reason.
It's hard to tell what `the standard GNU gcc package (from the Sun site)'
actually is. However, R 1.3.1 did compile under Solaris 2.6 with gcc
2.95.3 compiled under Solaris 2.6. The error appears to be a mismatch
between your compiler and your assembler. I don't think that qualifies as
a bug in R, and definitely is one we can do nothing about. lbfgsb.c does
seem to be valid C that is accepted by a wide range of compilers on
Solaris and elsewhere.
