[1] The R startup script sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH to start with
/usr/local/lib/. I have installed a development version of glibc 2.2
there; needless to say R was not pleased with the little switcheroo
between /lib/ld-linux.so.2 and /usr/local/lib/libc.so.6.
I don't see any need for this. If dl modules are being downloaded
from CRAN, they should go in /usr/local/lib/R/ or something like that,
not in /usr/local/lib. Of course if they're Debianized, they
shouldn't be put in /usr/local at all.
[2] I don't have Netscape, I'm using Mozilla and Lynx mostly.
Something like xfig-www-browser(1) should be used to try and come up
with a sensible guess at a help browser.
