[Rd] change in save file format

The development verison now uses a new save file format.  The previous
format used through R 1.3.1 can still be read and can also be written
by sypplying an explicit version argument to save().  The new format
supports saving some new internal types, reduces the size of saved
code files, and forms the basis for a more flexible serialization
mechanism. A C interface to this mechanism, which should be considered
experimental and subject to change, is available in the devel version.
An (even more) experimental R interface is described in notes
available from developer.r-project.org (search for serialization).
