[Rd] R CMD check dev.cur()

I am having trouble tracking down a "R CMD check"  problem in Linux.
The code works in Solaris and interactively in Linux. Is it possible
that dev.cur() when running "R CMD check" returns 1 in Solaris and
something different in Linux (Mandrake 2.2.14-1 and Gnome)?
