[Rd] diff.default / diff.ts in wrong package bug (PR#640)

I'm inclined to say 2). 

1) would be wrong in any case (it's hardly a critical bug since you
can just preload ts and the fix is somewhat questionable when you
consider the full consequences). If anything, the fix would be for the
development version -- not that that really matters at this point,
since there's a very good chance that the next release will be 1.2.0.
