[Rd] xgobin on win95

i finally managed to install brians latest version of
xgobi and the r interface to it on win95.
i am running exceed 6.1
it works,
but clone xgobi (within xgobi) does not work.
has anybody made clone xgobi run on win95 (or win98)?
how about w2k?

additionally,
set DISPLAY=localhost
does not work
i do have
localhost 	127.0.0.1
in my hosts file, nonetheless i get an error message
when i try to start xgobi (standalone or from within r)

any ideas about that?
