The needed files are in
cdrom/Packages/RPMS/XFree86-devel-3.3.3.1-4.i386.rpm
This is also where one finds them under RedHat, except that the
file is XFree86-devel-3.3.3.1-49.i386.rpm and one needs the
path that is relevant to the RedHat distribution.
I have yet to check whether installing this package (as well as
g77-2.91.66-5.i386.rpm, which I installed earlier) is enough to
allow make to run to completion.
[The XFree86-devel-3.3.3.1-4.i386.rpm on my home CD is corrupt.
Fortunately I have another disk at work, where the file seems
ok.]
Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 seems, aside from these immediate difficulties,
a product that is relatively novice-friendly. It is a lot more
straightforward than RedHat to install and configure. So it will
be useful to sort out how to set up R under it.
