--save and memory

If the memory size is too small for the saved workspace to be loaded, and
--save is specified in a batch file then the previous workspace is lost.
It seems to me that having insufficient memory to load the saved workspace
should be a fatal error at least if --save is specified.
What do other people think (preferably people that think saved workspaces
are potentially useful)?
Currently a work-around is to add this to the batch file
if (!exists(".Random.seed")) q("no")
