EGCS optimizer bug?

Apparently not... But now I have, and it appears to be OK at -O2. 

Pity that it's 11 MB source and that the defunct 1.0.2 is what ships
on RedHat CD's. [There are binaries on contrib.redhat.com, though. You
could probably make do with 2.8MB (C + g77) of those]
