I always do it your way,
(install into a different path, and use the RLIBS environment variable)
but I have never had your problem.
(but I have to admit that I rarely use the 'functions.html' interface;
if I use the HTML interface its for demo-ing to others,
and/or for looking at extra packages and for using the Java search
interface; for everything else, ESS (Emacs Speaks Statistics)
is more convenient for me
)
