  That's fine. I'm still not doing well on the computer front; 3 down/ 1 up;
  but things are supposed to change.....
  
  
  On Doug Bates comments about files with .data extensions; if these things
  are going to work under 3.1 I think we need to limit ourselves to 3 digit
  extensions. While I'm sure .dat is already taken I think it will be easier
  to work around that. Yes I could write perl scripts to do all the 
  transforming but it's a bit of a pain (especially since I can't even keep
  up with the other developments).
