Installing R-0.50a4 on some of our systems I found that the mva
library doesn't build because the include file f2c.h is not available.
make[3]: Entering directory `/afs/cs.wisc.edu/unsup/R-0.50alpha4/src/library/mva/src-c'
gcc -g -fpic -I/afs/cs.wisc.edu/unsup/R-0.50alpha4/include -c dblcen.c
gcc -g -fpic -I/afs/cs.wisc.edu/unsup/R-0.50alpha4/include -c dist.c
gcc -g -fpic -I/afs/cs.wisc.edu/unsup/R-0.50alpha4/include -c hclust.c
hclust.c:6: f2c.h: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [hclust.o] Error 1
Is it possible to search for this in the configure script? I'm not
sure what to suggest to the installer if it is not available. Is the
information used sufficiently well-defined that a replacement could be
generated on the fly?
