R-alpha: Be nice to the English

Two suggestions for additions to Rprofile:

colours<-colors
optimise<-optimize

to provide aliases for the alternative spellings of these words. As an
argument to a function we usually seem to use col= rather than colors=
which gets around that compatibility issue. I don't know how much it
matters in R but I write \begin{itemise} instead of \begin{itemize} in
LaTeX with annoying regularity.

The aliases would also have to be added to the help pages for the relevant
functions.
