Hello, 
 I am a complete beginner to OS X as well as EMACS and ESS. This is creating a bit of a problem for me when it comes to setting up these three to run together with R on my computer. 
 I downloaded and installed the Emacs-23.1.93-modified-4-i386.dmg file. 
 I changed my associated editor in R to be EMACS. 
 When I open a new document in R EMACS opens up, however,  when I run
  > .packages(all.available=TRUE, lib.loc=NULL)
  ESS does not show up as an installed package. 
  Am I missing some step here?
