Hi,

For some reason, buffers with ess-mode (R code) buffers scroll very slowly
(either with the keyboard or mouse on the scrollbar) ever since about a
month ago with Emacs CVS. This does not seem to occur with Emacs 22.2. Nor
does it occur with any other mode, as far as I've tested (c-mode,
latex-mode, etc). Of course, a lot of this would depend on my configuration
(.emacs), but I've turned off things like font-lock and smooth scrolling,
and the problem remains. My ESS version is 5.3.7.

I thought it might be due to the Xft font rendering, so I tried to build CVS
without xft, but the build failed. I then selected a non-Xft font, but the
problem persisted.

So in summary I've only reduced it to a difference between Emacs 22.2 and
CVS HEAD.
