I have been ablr to
make an R session inside emacs 
and run commands from
the > prompt etc. It works
nicely but I can't figure out
how to be able to bring back old
commands from this prompt.
 
When I hit the up
Arrow key ( like I would in S+/linux ), 
the cursor literally goes up which
I guess is what should
be done in an editor but
but not what I want.
