[ESS] ?foo doesn't work in development [sometimes]

Do you use several ESS versions alternatively? Do you compile? It is
indeed strange that ESS behaves so unreliably for you recently.

Not ?']' but ?[, I guess. No need for quotes; ESS automatically puts
those.
