[ESS] Emacs/ESS better than Notepad++ because...

ediff is worth the price of admission to emacs.

ediff gives highlighted differences between two (or three) files.
For example, yesterday's version of the file (myfile.r~) and today's
version (myfile.r).
I will often do this to remind myself what changes I made today.
