[ESS] how do I set ess-sas-log-max to a value so that SAS logs get syntax highlighting (font lock) regardless of size

Maybe that is the issue.  What happens if you evaluate something like
this in the *scratch* buffer?

(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.[lL][oO][gG]\\'" . SAS-log-mode))
