[ESS] Font Path

Trying to plot with ESS-5.3.1, I'm getting: 

Error in X11() : could not find any X11 fonts
Check that the Font Path is correct.

Where is this font path?

I'm using R and ESS on GNU/Linux and I didn't have this problem
before. I haven't done anything specific with xorg since I ran R and
ESS last. 

Any pointers as to what I can look at?
