It's the info files, which in 5.1.24 used to be accessible from the [Help - 
Manuals - Browse Manuals with Info] menu. I've just tried Rodney's suggestion 
for make install, but the ess manual still doesn't appear in the list shown 
when accessing that menu item. Thanks for your help.
