customizing ess 5.2.2 toolbar

Jack, the biggest problem is that it's mostly an XEmacs/Emacs issue;
if they provide a clean API, we can use it. Right now, I'd hesistate
to call it clean, but Stephen Turnbull (XEmacs lead) has it near the
top of the list of his To-Do pile...
