Lost ability to Ctrl-C Ctrl-C

My old version of Emacs/ESS stopped recognizing C-c C-c when we upgraded to
Solaris 2.8 (without rebuilding). Rodney Sparapani <rsparapa at mcw.edu> wrote:

Thanks, Rodney! It seems that C-q C-c <rtn> does the trick, interrupting the
current command. C-c C-o does not flush the output afterwards, probably
because of the extra carriage return, but that's a minor inconvenience. Note
that C-q C-c C-q C-c <rtn> kills the whole R process.
