It might be solved in 5.1.24, but more importantly, I need to upgrade
the XEmacs ESS package -- I've been trying to finish up a few things,
release 5.1.25 (probably 5.2pre1) but things like changing
departments, administrative cruft, and setting up a computational
research lab, all related to solving job-hell, have gotten in the way.

I think it's still an occassional problem with 5.1.24, but I've not
seen it in a while.
