Did you try C-g to cancel the lockup?  That often works.

You shouldn't have to kill R for what is most likely an Xemacs problem.



I should give you a little more info. After the C-g, a RET finally causes
Xemacs to start displaying the help file. It displays badly, showing a ^M at
the beginning of each line. And in the buffer for that help file, there's
the message "WARNING: terminal is not fully functional"
