ESS 5.1.20 and SAS

Hi everybody.
I'm sure my question it's stupid but I can't really make ESS work with SAS 
6.12 under win98. I added the directory where SAS.exe is to the PATH, but 
if I do M-x SAS in emacs (20.7.1) I alway get Spawning child process: 
invalid argument
Any suggestion?
