ESS Installation under win2000 pro

Hallo ESS Cracks,

we are trying to install ESS to our Xemacs under windows 2000 pro. In the 
installation manual is written that a file named .emacs should be updated. 
Unfortunately we can not find that file.  In addition all the instructions 
seem to be written for UNIX installation. Is there a instruction specially 
written for MS Windows Users?
