Splus 6

Hello ESS folks,

   I'm running ess-5.1.16 on solaris.

   We've just upgraded to Splus 6.0, and I wonder what all has to be done
to use version 6 with ESS. I did download ESS-5.1.18, and I see in the
README file that support includes Splus5.x, not Splus6, so I haven't
installed it.

 My naive point of view is that the step from version 5.1 to version 6 was
not as tall as the step from 3.4 to 5.x,  so I'm wondering if I can just
create an new variable: 
(setq-default inferior-S+6-program-name "Splus6")  and run it as I have
S+5.  I've tried editting ess-site.el and ess-cust.el with that goal, but
I am just kludging it up (get error Splus5 not found, which is true, it
doesn't exist on the machine I'm using, but I don't know which file
makes it look for that program). Are any of you ESS-gurus using version
S+6?  

Should I wait for a nice solution, or are there a few files which need to
be modified/added which someone could share with me?
