Evaluating without showing, a couple of other things

On braces and indentation. The place to look is ess-style-alist in
ess-vars.el. If you come up with another scheme, submit it to us.

On arrow keys. Personally I always want the arrows to mean navigation in
the buffer. I use M-p and M-n to retrieve comint-previous-input and
comint-next-input. If you want to change that behavior, then I think
a conditional on the cursor being on the last line of the buffer is the
way to start thinking about it.

On invisible. We have an invisible option on some of the ess
functions. I've never tried to make it work. My first response in
this example is to save the region into a tmp.s file and then do
ess-load-file on tmp.s
