[ESS-bugs] Recent bug report

Hello again.  I have just sent off  a bug report but now have additional
information.  The  problem apparently lies  with my firewall.   Stop the
firewall and then even having Internet access does not cause the problem
of waiting for timeouts for several minutes.

Question:
Why does this problem only make itself felt with emacs version 24.5?

Question:
What is ESS doing on the Internet?   This is important if I have to make
a hole in the firewall.
