[ESS-bugs] ess-mode 13.09 [svn: 5778 (2013-09-27)]; must start graphics on mac explicitly

When I run R in console, everything works perfectly (see my original report).
when I run R in the Emacs *shell* buffer, R exits and a new dialog is displayed:
"To open R you need to install X11".
"require(grDevices)" makes no difference.
"quartz()" creates a new window after which "plot" works.
