[ESS-bugs] ESS 13.09-1 with old R versions fails pretty badly

I think it will work.  But, as we know, lots of our ideas do not get implemented.
The advantage here is that most of the code needed already has been written.
Mac OS X (NeXt really) has a lot of problems of it's own, but I think this is one of the
design decisions that they got right.

All I am suggesting is that we clone the old code and create a way for people to
change to an older version of ESS if they need to run an old version of R.  But, as 
always, only the current version of ESS will be supported.  I think that would be
easier than trying to add new support for old versions of R; but maybe I'm wrong ;o)
