it has indeed solved the problem.

As that went so smoothly (:-)  :
There's another "bug report" from Doug Bates about julia-mode:  Julia
in the console does TAB completion
but julia in *julia* (or *.jl) does not..  ..
and indeed, I can confirm that.  I haven't tested really many cases,
but TAB completion did not work in those cases I tried.
