Sorry, your 2nd question slipped through the craks. Meanwhile I've been playing a little myself with the ESS --> Font-Lock sub-menu: switching neither "ess-fl-keyword:constants" nor "ess-R-fl-keyword:F&T" switches appears have any influence.
