Just to add to that, in plain R, i.e. no ESS:
?MASS::mvrnorm does work and ??MASS::mvrnorm gives me,
sort of, help for help...

Help files with alias or concept or title matching 'mvrnorm' using
fuzzy matching:


MASS::mvrnorm           Simulate from a Multivariate Normal
                         Distribution


Type '?PKG::FOO' to inspect entries 'PKG::FOO', or 'TYPE?PKG::FOO' for
entries like 'PKG::FOO-TYPE'.
