Hi John:

My test machine has the same OS as yours; I have now tested it with Emacs
and Rterm 2.8.0 without any problems.  Couple of things to try...
1. (setq inferior-R-program-name 
"/cygdrive/c/Progra~1/R/R-2.10.1/bin/Rterm.exe")
2. Can you try it without Cygwin?
