I've got code somewhere for S4 beta versions along with Duncan's
parallel version from his thesis. Fortunately, they are about as
pragmatic as our Omegahat version.
(always nice to have around for research comparisons, but not terribly
useful for anything applied).

Agreed.
In case I wasn't being clear, it makes sense to me to use S for the
S-PLUS version at this point. In a very real way, they are one and
the same (Insightful owns S now, correct Tim?).
