what is the rationale for that, Sam?   I don't use it on any platform
(Linux/Win/Mac).

If you remove that, does it work?

I'd guess that there is some nasty interaction with our interception
command (which grabs "?" and "help(" strings from the command line as
a signal to redirect output).
