[ESS-bugs] ess-mode 5.2.8; remote process name / slow down

I experience the same thing, as well, as part of the problems with ess-remote.

And I'm just dealing with functions on the order of 20-80 lines (Splus
6, not R, and I'm using M-x telnet for the connection, but I, as well,
suspect it's Emacs/ESS, not the underlying language).

It's a bit faster opening a local shell (M-x shell; unfortunately M-x
eshell barfs with ESS), and telnet'ing/ssh'ing from there, rather than
using M-x telnet.

I havn't tried ssh.el, which isn't with my version of Emacs (ancient
version of Cygwin).
