hi Sebastian, try a new .emacs with as little in it as you can have.

something like:

(add-to-list 'load-path "/your/path/to/ess/lisp")
(require 'ess-site)

+if you still get nasty comint errors, we have some real debugging
ahead!
(BTW I'm not going to be around much in the next week or two,
apologies in advance if I can't help debug this further.)
