Sundar - 3) is possible with "drawtext" for the scale bar legend, and
the usual matrix subassignment of pixel values for the bar itself.
Tobias - not sure what you mean by "bona fide". For ad hoc interactive
image manipulation, there are many other tools that are easier to use
than EBImage, the aim of that package is to be used when you want to
automate things, or want to use R's statistics and machine learning tools.
