The Goldman group at the EBI are looking for an experienced scientific
programmer to produce software implementing techniques, explored in an
existing project, in a manner that is suitable for use within production
environments. S/he will also provide initial support to users.
The scientific programmer will produce, test, document, maintain,
distribute and support code implementing a new statistical method called
"AYB" - (see http://www.ebi.ac.uk/goldman/AYB) which has been developed
at the EBI. This method analyses data from high-throughput sequencing
systems; specifically, the base-calling component of the Illumina GA
pipeline. In addition, the post holder should combine these duties with
research into further development of the AYB methodology. The scientific
programmer will report to the AYB project leaders at the EBI and will
collaborate with scientists at EBI and other research institutes. Some

implement complex numerical methods in robust, easy to use software
suitable for non-experts. Experience of development of novel
computationally-intensive data analysis methods would also be advantage

It is essential that the scientific programmer has experience of C/C++
programming and software engineering (build systems, version control,
