Dear List,
I wanted to draw your attention to EMBL's PhD programme. EMBL is one of
the more successful molecular biology research institutions in Europe,
with sites in Heidelberg, Cambridge, Grenoble, Rome and Hamburg, and it
offers an excellent PhD programme. Obviously there is a lot of fine
"classical wet-lab biology", but there are also great opportunities for
people with quantitative qualifications (e.g. maths, physics, computer
science, statistics, engineering) in fields such as live cell imaging,
genomics/genetics and modelling in cell biology and development. The
application deadline for admissions in autumn 2008 is 17 December 2007.
Please see here for more info

and also here for the EBI:

PS, compared to many PhD programmes in the US, EMBL's is also quite
fast: 3-3.5 years.
Best wishes
Wolfgang
