	Research Fellow, Rosetta Inpharmatics.

	Postdoctoral Fellow - Systems Biology

Rosetta Inpharmatics LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck & Co.
Inc. <http://www.rii.com/redirect/merck.htm> , develops and implements
technologies that will improve drug discovery. The company's leading-edge
genomic research and data analysis efforts focus on how medical compounds
affect biology, enabling more accurate selection of drug targets and more
efficient drug development.

A postdoctoral position is available at Rosetta that will focus on
developing and applying computational systems biology approaches to
elucidate and utilize biological pathways in drug discovery. Research
topics include developing and applying approaches to
*	Ascertain the mechanisms and pathways underlying gene and protein
expression patterns.
*	Predict effects of perturbations such as siRNA knockdown or compound
interactions using protein-protein interaction and/or gene regulatory
networks models.
*	Identify mechanism-based biomarkers using high throughput genomic
data and clinical endpoints.
This postdoctoral position will be hosted by the Informatics
department at Rosetta, and is jointly sponsored by Robert Gentleman, Fred
Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Program in Computational Biology.
Comprehensive pathway databases, the world's largest expression data
respository, RNAi technologies, access to clincal samples with rich
clinicial data, collaborative interactions with a critical mass of
informatics and bioinformatics scientists, and state of the art
computational facilities are some of the resources that will be available to
the successful candidates.
Qualifications include: Ph.D. in bioinformatics or related field
with solid background in molecular biology, computer science, and
statistics. Solid training in data analysis algorithms is essential.
Background in oncology or metabolic disease is desirable, as is experience
in systems biology, pathways or network bioinformatics. The candidate
should have demonstrated excellence in one or more of these areas, including
a strong publication record. ,
