The vision of Cancer Research UK is to conquer cancer through world-class
research. We are the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to
cancer research, spending £213m a year on cutting-edge research into
treating, preventing and curing cancer.
The Bioinformatics and BioStatistics Service provides support to Cancer
Research UK-funded scientists primarily in the areas of expression data
analysis, sequence analysis, genomics and biostatistics. We are currently
looking for two people to join this group:
Bioinformatics Officer (Ref: 3609)

You will provide microarray data analysis support for CR-UK scientists. The
principal responsibility will be to perform expert analysis of microarray
data and other high-throughput genomic data, using a wide range of
biological and bioinformatic methods and resources.
You should have a degree in a biological science or bioinformatics; in-depth
knowledge of molecular biology, genetics and analysis techniques for
expression data; and 2 years' relevant experience. Good knowledge of
available microarray analysis software would be advantageous.
The above post will involve working closely with laboratory staff and
collaboration with other bioinformaticians so you are expected to have good
communication skills.
Senior Bioinformatics Officer (Ref: 3616)

You will develop expertise and methods in analysis, statistics,
visualisation and data integration for the Bioinformatics and BioStatistics
Service support of array-based SNP and genotyping projects across Cancer
Research UK.
You should have a higher degree in bioinformatics, statistics, computational
biology or computer science; in-depth knowledge of statistical analysis,
data visualisation and numerical computation (eg R or MATLAB); the ability
to program in a higher-level language; and 5 years' relevant experience.
Familiarity with cancer biology, genetics or molecular biology would be
advantageous. The post will initially entail a 12-18 month secondment to the
Molecular Oncology group at St Barts and The London.
The above post will involve working closely with laboratory staff and
collaboration with other bioinformaticians so you are expected to have good
communication skills.
