Chair in Statistical Bioinformatics
-----------------------------------

School of Mathematics, University of Leeds

The School of Mathematics at Leeds has an international reputation for its
research; in RAE 2001 all three Departments (Applied Mathematics, Pure
Mathematics, Statistics) were rated 5. As part of a University-wide strategy,
the School is creating a new Centre for Statistical Bioinformatics.
Applications are invited for a Professorship in this field which will
complement the existing research strengths in the School. It is expected
that a lectureship post will subsequently be advertised in this area to
support the Chair appointment. The School of Mathematics has a strong
tradition in Statistics, particularly in the areas of shape analysis,
directional statistics and spatial statistics.

The purpose of this Chair appointment is to provide leadership in the area
of Statistical Bioinformatics and to foster research interactions between
groups with research interests in this field - both within the University
and outside. The School seeks applications from individuals with a record of
outstanding research and proven leadership in the area of Statistical
Bioinformatics. Salary is negotiable within the Professorial range (minimum
£47,380 p.a.) The University is introducing a new reward framework which
will facilitate the recruitment, retention and motivation of world class staff.
